But let's go back to the present. 2020 — I like this year. And it's not just because it looks good on projects.;) The number 20 means awakening, seeing the world as it really is. It is a symbol of openness to knowledge and experience and a number that brings great intuition. And in 2020 we have as many as two twenties! A coincidence? I don't think so!
Today I will tell you about the trends for the beginning of the new decade. And it will not be another text about the most fashionable colors, fonts or styles. Today it will be different: from the latest technologies, through functionality, to accessibility. Fasten your seatbelts and... here we go!
For starters, the three musketeers of 2020: VR, AR, AI!
VR — Virtual Reality
Do you think VR is a failed technology that ended before it actually started? 2020 is a chance for her to flourish!
How is he supposed to get back to the salons? In March 2020, Half-Life: Alyx will be released. The game is created with virtual reality in mind. The developers emphasize that the production would not offer the right experience if it were made available as a classic production. Gamers are already rubbing their hands and stocking up on the latest PCs. It is said that the game will be a big hit. If so, it will also be VR technology!
At the end of 2020, Microsoft and Sony are launching their two new consoles. While the new Xbox isn't going to continue supporting VR technology, PlayStation is going to get into it all. If PlayStation 5 and VR games like it, the technology has a huge chance to enter the mainstream. And if this happens, we can be sure that it will work for good on the web design salons.
And now think about all those meetings that can be carried out with VR technology. You put on your glasses and you can almost live participate in a meeting with the other person.
The funny thing is that the entry into the market of a computer game that is only available in VR technology can cause cascading effects in the field of web design.
AR — Augmented Reality
Augmented reality is a system that connects the real world with the computer-generated one. Why will this be the year of AR? There are two main reasons:
Minecraft Phenomenon (Earth)
Minecraft is a game that has sold over 100 million copies worldwide. And no, Minecraft is not just a “stupid game”. Because stupid games do not sell so sensationally.;) At the end of 2019, a new version of it was released. Minecraft Earth is a free mobile production that, like Pokemon Go, uses augmented reality and geolocation technology. The game recognizes the location and applies it to the world map. This is because the Minecraft color filter is superimposed on the actual shot.
Apple goes into AR!
Apple has announced a lot of investments in AR, and if Steve Jobs' brand is investing in something, it's always a reason to watch.;) In 2022/23 Apple wants to launch AR glasses that look just like regular glasses. Yes, I know that there have already been such attempts on the part of other brands, but... you will admit that if a “bitten apple” is taken for something, it usually becomes a hit!
In this way, we have another reason why augmented reality is the big trend for 2020. The development of AR technology is a great opportunity for designers to use new tools related to augmented reality.
AI — Artificial Intelligence and ML — Machine Learning
AI leads to the development of a human-mimicking system that responds to behavior under given circumstances, while ML involves the creation of self-learning algorithms. This is a word of introduction — so that we immediately know what this point is about.;)
AI and ML have been used in practice for several decades. An example would be anticipating the purchasing tendencies of customers or the risk of abandoning services. AI also gives the ability to automatically recognize images, which until recently was only a human skill.
2020 is a further development of those areas that, without a doubt, help to sell. And everyone wants their business to bring as much profit as possible. Developers creating websites for their clients as well.;)
AI-enabled design is the standard in 2020!
The three trends mentioned above are the hot three of my list. But there are others that I cannot leave out. About them in the next article. Stay Tuned.
