What kind of design is relevant to business?
According to Amazon Web Services, 88% of visitors will not return to a website that did not satisfy them. Hubspot, based on its latest research, warns that more than 9 out of 10 people leave these websites, which are:
- poorly designed,
- non sono visualizzate correttamente
- They don't charge fast enough.
No wonder, we are probably doing the same thing subconsciously. But if you take into account the fact that at any given time there are almost 2 million active pages on the web — the mere thought of lost money gets hot.
How does design translate into earnings?
Design-oriented companies have outperformed the S&P stock index by... 228% over the past 10 years. “Good design = good business”, concludes Joanna Ngai, UX designer at Microsoft. Google also seems to understand what the matter is. Taylor Ling, their design expert, says that “When you look at companies like Google, Apple, or Airbnb, it's obvious that without great design they wouldn't be where they are now.”
All the giants emphasize the critical importance of design for long-term success, resulting in tangible profits. Well, okay. But what exactly is design?

What is design?
They say that good design is like good art - everyone has a different opinion. One of the simplest definitions defines it as a method of solving problems. Whether in architecture, in airport systems, in websites, or even in the cup that I now hold in my hand.
Others call design the process of imagining and planning creation, which puts the human being at the center (so that it responds to his needs). Still others — the ability to present the message in the best possible way.
In fact, all these interpretations are correct and are reflected in practice. Design helps solve problems, focuses on people and is pleasant to receive. Regardless of the industry in which it appears.
However, as befits a real star, the design has also been met with rumors. One of the misconceptions is to reduce it to a purely visual side — and design is not intended solely to beautify. It's supposed to work too! It is a peculiar combination of art (creation, vision, feelings) with science (anthropocentric problem solving).
“Design is not just about how something looks and feels. Design is how it works.” Steve Jobs
Why is design so important right now?
How would you dress for the Oscars gala and the red carpet party? You're not gonna show up there in old jeans and a T-shirt, are you? You will certainly dress to impress — after all, all eyes will be on you.
Design is the outfit of this red carpet.
It is what the world sees when it looks at you. The quality of your design reflects the quality of your business like a mirror image. And in a world where customers massively go online (I wrote more about this in the article “Online Business: 5 Reasons Why You Should Exist Online.” check), attention to design takes on even greater importance.
“Focus on the user — the rest will come by itself.” — Google.com
Thoughtful, professional design helps you solve problems and give customers a better experience. And what is good for customers is good for the company. So let it be your winning strategy, which will give you an extremely important competitive advantage.
